		Afrormosia grows in the tropical-equatorial forest in the belt surrounding the Gulf of Guinea, from the Ivory Coast to the Congo Basin. Hardness is medium to high. The yellowish sapwood is starkly different from the heartwood, which is rich brown with golden highlights and sometimes even greenish hues.
