		Doussié grows on hillsides towards the savannah of the tropical and equatorial belt from Senegal to Angola, Mozambique, and Tanzania, and in the rainforests. Hardness is medium high. Durability is good in all conditions. The colour ranges from golden pale golden brown to reddish with an appearance that is frequently variegated, although this effect tends to diminish through time. Contrasting colours are not uncommon when the wood is freshly cut.
